AN EXCLUSIVE SHOPPING EVENT

Caroline and Beanie were thrilled to be a part of the exclusive shopping event at the lovely Moda Rosa Boutique, back at the beginning of May.

It was such a wonderful event showcasing Oldstrom brands including Dea Kudibal, Valérie Khalfon and Caroline Svedbom.

WINTER 24 AND PRE-SPRING 25 COLLECTIONS

This month we have been introducing our customers to beautiful new collections from both Dea Kudibal and Mei MeiJ. Both collections include transitional pieces that will help to refresh rails between the Christmas and early New Year period.

A TRIP TO MILAN

Caroline and Julie got to preview the Mei MeiJ Pre-spring 25 collection during a flying, 24-hour trip to Milan. They also managed to fit in a little sight-seeing and of course, stopped long enough to sit and enjoy some pizza and Aperol Spritz.

A SCOTTISH ROAD TRIP

Lois and Julia spent a week up in Scotland, visiting our lovely stockists and lots of new stores. It was a very productive trip and the girls thoroughly enjoyed their time up in such a beautiful part of the UK.

A 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!

The team at Gunnel’s Fashion Marbella had their 20th Anniversary this May. They celebrated the milestone in the best way possible, with a big party including a presentation from Caroline Svedbom and a fabulous, multi-brand fashion show.

Caroline was excited to attend the event in Marbella and saw so many of our brands highlighted throughout the day!

WHAT TO WEAR TO CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

The Summer social calendar will soon be kicking off with the iconic RHS Chelsea Flower Show- an annual event held at the historic Royal Hospital Chelsea, running from the 21st to the 25th of May.

If you managed to grab some tickets this year, then you might be in need of a little outfit inspiration. Here are a few of our recommendations for event-appropriate looks.

We know, as Miranda would say “Florals for Chelsea Flower Show… groundbreaking” but in this case it really is a perfect match!

A summery, day dress is a great, easy option to nail the smart/casual dress code. Pair with a comfy trainer to get you through the day and some statement jewellery, like these Caroline Svedbom Petite Rope and Anemone styles, to add an extra touch of glamour to the look.

Chelsea Flower Show is the perfect excuse to pull out the linen pieces from summer wardrobe storage.

On the 24th of April, we hosted our AW24 press day at our showroom in Shoreditch!

It was such a wonderful day showcasing the latest collections from all of our beautiful brands including Edblad, GLAS Eyewear, Campomaggi, Dea Kudibal, Mei MeiJ, Bitte Kai Rand, Sand Copenhagen, Caroline Svedbom and Van Kukil.

An exciting guest list including key press, influencers and stylists, all brought the best vibes to the event and made the day a joy to host!

THE AW24 - END OF SEASON ROUND-UP

The start of 2024 was a super busy period for the Oldstrom team - Another successful selling season of showroom appointments, trade shows, brand visits and road trips. But now we have had a moment to rest and reflect on everything we have achieved, we wanted to highlight some of the most exciting events of the last few months.

Take a look at what we have been up to recently over on our socials and in the highlights below.

LAUNCHING GLAS EYEWEAR AT TOP DRAWER

Back in January, we attended our first trade show of the year, launching a very exciting new brand as part of the Oldstrom portfolio - the premium eyewear brand GLAS Eyewear. We also took our popular Swedish jewellery brand Caroline Svedbom to the show and showcased their beautiful Spring and Summer collections. This was a great way for us to jump into the new selling season with momentum and introduce the new GLAS brand to UK customers.

MEETING BITTE AND MICHAEL KAI RAND

At the beginning of the year, Julie and Freya travelled to Copenhagen for the AW24 kick-off meeting with Bitte Kai Rand. On this trip, they got the chance to meet the founders- Bitte and Michael, (Who we have to say are the loveliest people ever) as well as preview the new collection at the brand’s head office. A very fun and insightful trip overall and they can’t wait to visit again for the SS25 kick-off.

SCOOP TRADESHOW - AW24 EDITION

In February, we were back at Scoop, showing off all of the amazing new collections from our brands: Caroline Svedbom, BRGN, Bitte Kai Rand and Sand Copenhagen. We also took this opportunity to launch Edblad Jewellery to our customers and new potential buyers. The Swedish jewellery brand was a massive hit, with everyone loving the chunky, trendy, statement style of jewellery that Edblad is known for. (We love being able to offer customers new, unique and exciting product offerings!)

ROAD-TRIPPING AROUND IRELAND

At the beginning of April, Julia and Freya took Oldstrom on the road, visiting 36 stores in various towns all around Ireland. From Dublin to Kilkenny to Cork to Galway, the girls visited key existing stockists like Ellen B, Venezuela, Gallery 9 and Macbees, as well as introduced themselves to new, potential buyers and stores.

Key takeaways from the trip and all of the lovely chats they had along the way include a very positive reaction to the first season of Mei MeiJ, with stores experiencing great feedback on the brand and great initial sell-through. Another super positive product category for Ireland was accessories, with stores selling current brands very well and looking to introduce new names like Edblad and GLAS Eyewear to the mix.

THE AW24 SEASON WRAPPED

Here are our key takeaways after completing another busy selling season. This is Autumn/ Winter 2024 wrapped!

THE KEY COLOURS:

Across all of our brands’ collections, we noticed a repeating theme of rich tones of chocolate brown- an easy colour to style and a bit more interesting and elegant than navy or black, we are happy to see that brown is back.

After rising in popularity at the end of 2023, it also seems that the pop of red is here to stay! This season the tone of red is more rusty and very Autumn / Fall appropriate.

Finally, we started to see some playful pops of pastel within all the dark wintery tones. Mint being a big player, as well as cool tones of blue, yellow and pink. We believe this will help the collections to seamlessly transition into the SS25 season.

THE DESIGN FEATURES:

In the Autumn/ Winter collections the bow continues to reign supreme and if you ask Mei MeiJ then they would say the bigger the better! We love this super cute trend and we are glad to see it featured in new and interesting ways.

But if bows aren’t your thing then maybe corsages and big, fabric flowers are. You can find variations of this design feature in the AW24 collections from Dea Kudibal, Mei MeiJ and Bitte Kai Rand.

These little design accessories are a great add-on to all the skirts and tailoring that seem to be the most popular styles of clothing across the collections.

THE BESTSELLERS:

Accessories in general were a strong category for us this season. This is an area that we have focussed in on recently- finding new, premium brands that we know our customers will love. In AW24 we added GLAS Eyewear and Edblad Jewellery to our Oldstrom portfolio and due to great margins and unique, reactive product offerings, these new brands seem to have been a big hit!

In the world of footwear, the ballet pump continues to be a winning style. We loved how Kennel & Schmenger took this trend and continued to play with it in interesting ways: from animal print and tweed variations, to stud embellishments and pointed toes.

Finally, we couldn’t round up an Autumn/ Winter season without speaking about the outerwear. Due to warmer climates and rainy forecasts becoming the norm, customers are opting for lighter jackets rather than heavy, padded winter coats. The Monsun from BRGN continues to be our most popular shape- a stylish, flattering option that will also keep you happy and dry no matter the weather.

We have been totally hooked on all the fashion content from Copenhagen, London and Paris this past month! So we wanted to put our ‘research’ to good use and share some of the trends we are most excited about and the looks we will be recreating next Spring/ Summer.

At the beginning of September, Caroline and Lois travelled to Milan to showcase the Kennel & Schmenger SS24 collection at the MICAM trade show. They also stopped by the WGSN presentation and learnt all about the biggest footwear trends for the next season.

This past month we also launched the beautiful SS24 collection from Caroline Svedbom to buyers, when we showed at Top Drawer.

Press, stylists and influencers were invited to preview all of our brands’ SS24 collections in our beautiful Shoreditch showroom. A very successful and fun day despite the terrible weather!

A TRIP TO PARIS

During a short but jam-packed, fun-filled weekend in Paris, the team spent time at Premiere Classe with Campomaggi and Kennel and Schmenger as well as visiting Tranoi and Splash tradeshows.

It was so great to see everyone who attended the shows and to meet some new faces!

Spring Style You Need in Your Suitcase This Easter Break

Whether you’re going to be soaking up the sun in St.Tropez, walking the charming cobbled streets of Venice or exploring the British countryside this Easter, we have curated the perfect wardrobe for your upcoming vacation.

For the Stylish Sun-Seeker…

Not everyone enjoys basking in the sun, some enjoy discovering a beautiful city like Venice and exploring its winding streets, culture and history.

We suggest keeping it simple yet bold with the Cindy blazer and Rihanna trousers colour-blocking statement suit from Dea Kudibal. Then because layering is key to a city trip, pair this with an Avena blouse in natural white (THE summer must-have to complement that sun-kissed glow)!

Since any city trip requires lots of walking, dress this look down during the day with a pair of Kennel & Schmenger sneakers, featuring a matching pop of green. Tie the whole outfit together with Dea Kudibal’s Bella tote bag in Deuce Parakeet which is the perfect lightweight yet spacious option for when you are on the go.

For the Elegant English Escape…

Not all of us will be jetting away this Easter break, some of us are happiest exploring the beautiful, rural landscape here in the UK. From Cornwall to the Cotswolds, the UK has so many stunning coastal and countryside locations to explore.

This type of holiday requires a little more planning due to the unpredictability of the British Springtime weather – but who said practicality meant sacrificing style!

So, for your English staycation, we suggest starting off with a wardrobe staple, Tomorrow Denim Anne jeans in the Boston wash. Pair these jeans with Dea Kudibal’s Drew shirt in denim blue which features floral embroidery embodying the British springtime.
