SS27 TREND PREDICTIONS : The Team's Guide to the Season Ahead

We are now coming to the end of our SS27 collection kick-off meetings, we've had an exciting first look at the collections that will shape next spring and summer and we are buzzing with fresh inspiration for the new season. With so many standout elements to the new collections, we wanted to curate our thoughts: from top trends to key colours and product shapes that will define the fashion landscape.

Style with Personality

If there's one overarching message from SS27, it's this: fashion is becoming more personal and the encouragement of confidence is paramount. This season is about creating a look that feels uniquely your own. Accessorising are a must, with silk scarves, neck ties, statement bags and clever layering adding individuality to even the simplest ensembles. Think scarves or outer layers tied around the waist, layered over shoulders and handbags adorned with bag charms for an effortless finishing touch.

The Return of Power Dressing

Strong tailoring is making a statement once again.

Inspired by the renewed fascination with historic fashion moments and what some are calling ‘The Miranda Effect’ after the popular revival of The Devil Wears Prada. SS27 embraces sharp silhouettes, structured blazers, clean lines and polished separates that feel both powerful and feminine.

Maximalism has a Sister- Welcome “Miximalism”

A term recently coined by WGSN - “miximalism" is the buzzword for SS27.

This is the mixing of architectural silhouettes, rich layered textures, grounding tones mixed with a mood-boosting colour palette or decorative prints to create outfits full of personality and a sense of joyfulness and optimism.

The Colours of SS27

Colour plays a leading role next season, balancing soft neutrals with energetic brights.

Leading the palette is ‘Whisper White’, Pantone's key colour for SS27. Clean, calming and endlessly versatile, it provides the perfect canvas for the season's richer shades.

Alongside ‘Whisper White’ expect to see:

  • Lots of Lemon yellow and ‘Pop Pink’

  • WGSN & Coloro’s Colour of the year ‘Luminous Blue’ from cornflower to cobalt. These bright, bold hues are emotive, and feed into a desire for escapist fun and optimism.

  • Green will continue from AW26. Renewed for SS27, in shades of Khaki, Army green and Olive.

  • ‘Energy Orange’ evolving into warm cinnamon tones are the grounded, nature-inspired pigments that will offer balance and a calming contrast to the season's brighter hues.

Texture Takes Centre Stage

SS27 is a tactile season in which fabric becomes just as important as silhouette.

Expect romantic lace, soft fringing and tassels that add movement and dimension. Denim continues to be a strong category, appearing in fresh washes and contemporary cuts, while oversized florals and expressive prints bring personality to dresses, blouses and separates.

The New Silhouettes

Volume remains an important design feature, but it's more refined than in previous seasons.

Rather than oversized proportions for the sake of it, designers are embracing carefully controlled volume and designed proportions that feel modern and flattering.

The hero shapes that will continue in the Spring season include:

  • Barrel-leg trousers are an industry favourite that remain effortlessly cool

  • Balloon silhouettes will bring soft volume to trousers, skirts, dresses and sleeves.

COPENHAGEN ROUND UP

Mia and Beanie just returned from a short but sweet trip to Copenhagen — here’s what they got up to…

First, they stopped by the CIFF trade show, where our brands Edblad, Glas, Campomaggi, Meimeij, Bitte Kai Rand, and BRGN showcased their latest collections. The show was packed with innovation and fresh ideas, making it a significant meeting point for key accounts. Beanie also made a visit to the Mandatory trade show to connect with the team at Isabelle Blanche Paris. The strong international presence in Copenhagen reflected the industry’s confidence in both Ciff and Mandatory, and Oldstrom was proud to have so many of our brands represented.

On Tuesday evening, Beanie attended a private event with Dea Kudibal for the launch of their Autumn 2025 collection. Joined by 18 of our UK customers, she experienced a live catwalk, styling session, and an inspiring speech from Dea Kudibal herself. It was such a special evening, made even better by sharing it with our buyers.

Meeting our international Oldstorm family and discovering exciting new brands was a major highlight. This trip was invaluable for inspiration and market research ahead of the AW25 selling season. Next stop… SCOOP!

AW25 COLOUR GUIDE

As we are about to embark on an exciting AW25 season, Oldstrom has curated our very own colour guide inspired by WGSN x Coloro trend report for the season.

The report highlights themes of wellness, sustainability, creativity and technology as consumer drivers of these colours. Our AW25 collections seamlessly incorporate the key colour themes identified by WGSN, reflecting the latest trends in a vibrant and cohesive palette. Now, let’s dive into how each piece embodies these carefully curated hues, bringing fresh energy and style to your buying selection this season.

FUTURE DUSK

Pictured: 1. MeiMeiJ. 2. BITTE KAI RAND. 3. & 4. Dea Kudibal.

Individuality protrudes as a key theme for 2025. Creative and innovative, Future Dusk brings a dynamic newness to the plate for this season. This colour “aligns with themes of moving from darkness to light, dusk to dawn, preparing us for new horizons”. This dreamscape palette adds a elegant and rich touch to our collections this season.

CELESTIAL YELLOW

With a new year presenting itself as a year full of optimism, it makes sense that our next key colour is celestial yellow. Proposing a glow of positive harmony, “it is reminiscent of the moon, the stars and the sun, and connects with the search for reassurance and guidance as people look to spirituality, astrology and astronomy in times of uncertainty”. Celestial yellow is most striking in our crystal accents from Caroline Svedbom’s Dreamscape collection, bringing bright hopeful energy to the new season.

CHEERY LACQUER

A maturing of the cherry red trend sees cherry lacquer manifesting in AW25. This powerful pantone has a more luxurious appeal with “a seductive quality that taps into our deepest desires, taboos and pleasures as a form of radical escapism and self-empowerment”. We’re irresistibly drawn to the rich allure of cherry lacquer, an undeniably captivating shade that adds depth and vibrancy to every piece in our collections.

TRANSFORMATIVE TEAL

Ending off with a colour that taps into the comfort of nostalgia. This teal blue evokes feelings of warmth and sentimentality, “it has an undercurrent of soft joy and innocence brought on by memories, aligning with the rise of kindults and nostalgic sentiments reimagined among Gen Z”. It is clear that this retro blue is emerging as a captivating standout in our AW25 collections, commanding attention with its bold and timeless allure.

Trend spotting at Spring/ Summer 2024 catwalk shows.

Our favourite trends from Paris Fashion week!

We have been totally hooked on all the fashion content from Copenhagen, London and Paris this past month! So we wanted to put our ‘research’ to good use and share some of the trends we are most excited about and the looks we will be recreating next Spring/ Summer.

Firstly, we are LOVING all the floral appliqué that we saw across Balmain, Gabriela Hearst and Simone Rocha shows.

Shop the look with Bitte Kai Rand- High Summer 2024 styles.

Another top trend we spotted from the week- All the feathery texture and sparkle from Schiaparelli, Rabanne and Noir Kei Ninomiya.

Match the glamorous, glitzy vibe with these pieces from the Mei MeiJ SS24 collection.

And our team favourite, the focus on statement jewellery styles and lots of sparkle seen at the Zimmerman, Miu Miu and Balenciaga shows.

Shop similar stand-out styles at Caroline Svedbom.
