Introducing our newest brand, Karl Donoghue

A new year, brings new and exciting things to us all. In the case of our agency, the new year, meant welcoming a selection of new brands.

The first brand being Karl Donoghue. Karl Donoghue was conceived in the heart of London and is inspired by the beauty of natural skins and their unique intricate qualities. Calfskin, shearling and leather are the DNA for each collection. Using the highest quality skins, Karl brings to life his ideas from designs to customise trims by working closely with the most exclusive tanneries in Spain. 

From colour to texture, it is a natural material that brings the most luxurious element to fashion, inspiring silhouettes and detailing including innovative finishes and sophisticated palettes. Unlike mass-production techniques, individual panels are cut by hand before the garment is constructed by a single machinist and then hand finished at our London studio.

The brand has a strong sustainability focus. The shearling is therefore produced using CO2 which helps reduce the brands waste, resulting in a more sustainable approach to tanning. The brand only use skins that are a by product of the meat industry. As a result, these skins and shearlings are given a new lease of life in Karl Donoghue's beautifully crafted collections, as opposed to being thrown away into landfill. For example, creating products from leather, a by-product of the meat and dairy industry, prevents around 7-9 million tonnes of additional waste globally each year. Please note, Karl Donoghue is a fur free brand.

In his new AW22 collection, ‘Reimagining Elements’ is a metaphoric illustration of how multi seasonal layers integrate in an ethereal palette influenced by the atmospheric elements around us. Karl Donoghue creates an immersive and inclusive collection paying tribute to the ever-evolving world around us. The capsule range offers three styles with two multi-functional layers of luxury clothing, with many of the pieces being reversible. Furthermore, the collection also offers a capsule of cashmere products, as well as accessories. All knitwear is produced in Nepal using hand looms as opposed to automated looms which countries such as China use. The yarn is 100% pure Cashmere, spun from Inner Mongolian goat wool which is considered the highest quality. The styles regarding the cashmere capsule, have been designed to complement the rest of the KD collection for both colour and silhouette.

In Odd Molly’s AW21 collection you will find just about everything from stylish party dresses and cute boho designs for any occasion. However, as Christmas will soon be upon us, and we always like to get a head start, we turn to all things cosy yet glam, in particular velour.

Siri Dress

Dresses were made to be worn all year round. The temperatures may have dropped but there’s nothing stopping you from layering up and pairing them with tights, knee-high boots or a cute pair of jeans. In this instance, Odd Molly has created the perfect velour combo.

The Siri Dress was made for velour lovers. It has hidden press buttons and a tie waistband which can be adjusted. The dress also comes in different colour combinations such as Spiced Honey and Almost Black.

Night Garden, is Dea Kudibal’s newest collection that has just arrived in stores all over the UK. We are super excited about this collection, as it’s one of the most festive ones yet. The collection features the perfect occasional attire for all the glamorous parties which are yet to come this season.

The collection is timeless yet has a cinematic sense of glamour. Inspired by the classical Italian architecture and renaissance gardens of Italy, the collection works with a subtle colour palette of black and creme moss green, woof and sky blue combined with accents of dusted mauve, coral, dark purple and soft rose.

Our favourite outfit of the season has to be without a doubt the Velvet Suit. Also known as the Patricia (Velvet) Wrap blouse, combined with Nebraska (Velvet) Pants. The suit is rather laid back and casual. It is perfect for the days when you don’t feel like being the centre of attention, but more so, mysterious. Due to its simplicity, we recommend layering up on some beautiful Caroline Svedbom Jewellery to go with it.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have something a little jazzier. The Cathrin (V) shirt dress, in the print Poetry Taffe. It can be worn in the evenings, however, also makes for a lovely day dress. Pair it with some knee-high boots and a long brown faux fur coat.

The Patricia NS blouse in Gold Jacquard is the perfect choice for Christmas day. The blouse has a gorgeous shimmer to it and can be easily adjusted. Has balloon sleeves and high cuffs. Gold jewellery is highly recommended, for example, the Kaia Earrings from the AW21 Caroline Svedbom collection.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF MY SLEEPING GYPSY LINEN GARMENT?

My Sleeping Gypsy chooses linen as the primary fabric for its garments, not only due to the fact that it is sustainable, but also because it is cool, natural and breathable.

My Sleeping Gypsy, uses linen from a flax plant, which is harvested in August, 100 days after sowing. It is an annual plant which means it only lives for one growing season. The plant adapts easily to its environment and uses fewer fertilisers or pesticides to grow. Linen fibers can be processed without the use of chemicals. Conscious linen productions produce Zero waste. The waste that will not go into fabric manufacture, will be put towards other uses, such as linen seed oil.

Linen is rather easy to take care of, since it resists dirt and stains has no lint or pilling tendency, and can be dry-cleaned, machine-washed, or steamed. It is smooth, making the finished fabric lint-free, and gets softer the more it is washed. However, we recommend avoiding the tumble dryer.

Linen is known to wrinkle very easily, which some may consider is part of linen’s particular “charm”. Most people choose to air dry the garment on a good clothes hanger and wear without the necessity of ironing. However, if you wish to iron the garment, it is much easier to do so when damp.

If you own a Vyshyvanka from My Sleeping Gypsy, during your travels when you don’t have access to an iron you can simply put the dress on a hanger and leave it in the bathroom or any humid environment. In the morning the dress will be ready to wear without any need of special care.

Our first runner up is the Stacy in Trellis Blue. A blouse with volume sleeves and teardrop opening at the front. The pattern is elegant, and one of which will make you stand out from the crowd. Stacy is the perfect blouse for an evening outfit. We recommend styling it with a trouser suit for a formal classy look or leather trousers if you are feeling more daring. The weather becoming colder only means one thing…. Layers, layers and more layers! Layering is an art form. It gives you the freedom to be able to be creative and completely transform any outfit. BRGN Technical Fashion - Menswear

Last week, our team produced a photo shoot for one of our lovely brands - BRGN. The main focus of the shoot was to produce more content for the menswear collection, as this is something which we thought we don’t often see much off.

As the brand gets most of its inspiration through nature, it only makes sense that the shoot had to be produced outside in the wild. As a result, we decided to go somewhere a little bit different, swapping the madness of the city, for somewhere a bit more quiet and picturesque. We chose Southend On Sea, with its beautiful beach and gorgeous green fields.

As you all may well know, BRGN is a brand which focuses mainly on rainwear garments and accessories. We hoped that the weather would match this. However, we couldn’t have done the shoot on a hotter day! Regardless of this, we used the sunlight to our own advantage and portrayed the fact that the coat, is wearable no matter the weather, due to its breathable and adaptable materials.

BRGN - AW21 BEST SELLERS: SHOE EDITION

With AW21 just around the corner, we delve into BRGN’s best sellers of the season. Although the brand is mostly known for its fashionable and functional raincoats, in this AW21 collection, we would like to focus your attention on something a little bit different: The boots.

THE CHELSEA BOOTS

The Chelsea boot in the New Black has been our number one bestseller of the season. It was so popular, we sold out and had to order more stock for reproduction. The Chelsea boots can be ordered for £80 RRP.

The Chelsea boot is handmade out of real leather. It is extremely comfortable, and will protect you from all sorts of terrible weather. They are stylish, meaning you can wear these for a formal event, with a lovely patterned maxi dress; or for a informal occassion with a pair of jeans and an oversized jumper.

It is no surprise to any of us, that earthy colours, such as the Camel and Brown are still going strong for AW21. The ‘Camel’, which has been one of our favourites amongst our customers, is a perfect match for your monochrome nude outfits.

Some other colours which have been popular amongst our AW21 orders are the Lizard Green. We love pairing these with cream and camel colours.

Having a variety of colours to choose from, means you are able to mix and match your boots to different tonal outfits depending on the mood that you are in when you wake up each morning.

Autumn may not necessarily be cold enough for a pair of tights, but may on occasions, be slightly breezier than what we have been used to, over the summer. We all need a little TLC from time to time... and so does your VK Cashmere! Here's how

Delicate, warm and silky, wearing VK Cashmere feels like pure luxury and is. loved by many. But how can we return the same love back?

Cashmere is a type of wool which is extracted from the plush undercoat of the Kashmir goat, which is softer and finer than sheep’s wool. Due to the fact that these goats can only produce 4-6 ounces each year, cashmere has become very expensive and not as accessible.

Cashmere has natural antibacterial properties and may be easier to wash than you may think. However, it is always important to be patient and persevere with the process, in order to keep your Cashmere looking forever new. We tend to recommend you gently wash your cashmere knitwear after having worn it three or four times.

Here’s how to wash your cashmere in just a few simple steps…

1. Hand wash the item in lukewarm water (we recommend 35 degrees). In regards to the detergent, we recommend using a cashmere shampoo. However, if this isn’t something you have access to, then a similar mild detergent will do the job just fine.

2. Squeeze the suds gently through the fabric without rubbing or stretching the garment.

3. Rinse thoroughly in water of the same temperature.

4. Do not lift the garment while it is soaked with excess water, as this can cause the garment to change shape.

5. Once you are done washing the garment, place it gently back into its original shape. Make sure to keep the garment flat on a towel and let it dry naturally. Do not ever tumble dry. In addition, we recommend keeping it far away from any direct heat such as radiators or direct sunlight.

6. Finally, when the garment is dry, use a cool iron to press slightly over the garment.

And just like that, your cashmere will have the TLC it deserves!

Dea Kudibal - Taking care of your premium silk

Designed and created by the designer herself, Dea Kudibal stretched her creative flair from a young age, being brought up by a family of artists. In 2003 the brand started by selling beautiful silk scarves and quickly developed into a beautiful clothing line. The signature stretch silk quality, combined with ethnic prints and handmade details makes this brand a must-have!

The stretch silk quality has become a signature for Dea Kudibal and while most silk is recommended to be dry clean only, Dea Kudibal’s luxury and high quality, along with the great durability has made the stretch silk super easily maintainable, you can simply machine wash all Dea Kudibal Silks! If you choose to machine wash then do so on a slow silk setting at a maximum of 30 degrees, always best to wash with cold water!

However, if you choose to hand wash the pure stretch silk do so at a maximum of 40 degrees to not damage the silk. When doing so always make sure there is no bleach in the detergents and that it is suitable for silk fabrics. It is very important to make sure that you turn your silk inside out and do not scrub or stretch the silk while wet, this can result in the silk stretching and losing its shape. Instead of scrubbing to get the stains out we say leave the garment in the water to soak for up to 30 minutes, this is plenty of time to release all dirt and oils from the fabric.

Wet silk is super fragile and will stretch if hung on a hanger so to dry the silk garments best to lay them flat and air dry. If you wish to speed up the drying process lay the silk garment flat in between 2 cotton towels this way they will help absorb the moisture from the silk.

Once dry, do not iron the silk, the heat will damage the soft fabric fibers. The high quality of the Dea Kudibal silk means you shouldn’t need to iron the garment however If there are some stubborn wrinkles you wish to remove then steaming slowly in a downwards motion will relax the silk fibers and even out any wrinkles, soon as that is done your Dea Kudibal silk garments will be looking fresh and new ready!
